TRIP TO LONDON 2009
We have just come back from a wonderful trip, We travelled by train to London, the kids loved it we were very lucky
to have Rick with us who made sure we did not get lost, so thanks Rick you really were a star.
We arrived Monday, we all went out to different places after booking into hotel, which was ok, and beds were comfortable.
In a better area to get to things, which was much better. We bought everyone tube tickets; Hope loved it on the tube.
My family went to Buckingham palace it was only a 20 minute walk away, London is not very wheelchair friendly especially
not the tube stations.
Tuesday we spent at the science museum and the natural history museum, and then at night we went to see several different
shows, the group have seen Billy Elliott, Wicked, and Lion King between us. We went to see Wicked it was brilliant.
Wednesday we went for a trip round the Houses of parliament, it was amazing, Courtney came into her element, the guide was
amazed at her knowledge of the Tudors, it was really good , we then went to the sea life centre near the London Eye.
We then took the part of the group to the station that had to return early because of school, they had a good journey home.
Quess what the rest of us had a nightmare home the next day. We were woken at 4 45 with the fire alarm, some idiot smoking
in his room. We left the hotel went to Kings cross, all was well got good seats train set off, got to Peterborough, train
stopped. There had been a fire at Grantham; we were then told we had to change trains as there were massive hold ups.
We then changed onto another train which after 10 stops got us home 2 hours late.
A message came over the tannoy. Passengers for Edinbrough, we suggest you return home and travel another day, we cannot
get past Berwick upon tweed as there has been massive flooding.
We had hot sunny weather every day, has it been raining up here?
Pat.
